Apollo 11 was launched on July 16, 1969. It wascarrying astronauts Neal A. Armstong, Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr., and Michael collins. the spacecraft landed in the Mare Tranquillitatis at 3:17pm CDT on July 20th. At 9:56 PM, Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the moon, issuing the new famous phrase, "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
